Minutes of the Randolph City Council

Regular Session

March 3rd, 2014

7:00 pm

A regular meeting of the Randolph City Council was held at the Randolph City Hall at 7:00pm on March 3rd, 2014, and was called to order by Mayor, Gary Farwell.

The following council persons were present: Brian Hardy, Claude Perkins, Al Marshal, and Dustin Moreland.

Absent: Mike Berger

Visitors: Rhett and Mindy Goy

Justin Hornberger (Spiral Communications)

Chasidy Wederquist

Resignation by Megan Foster (Randolph City Clerk)

Ad was placed in paper for a new City Clerk, the following three people applied:

Brittney Reifling

Kyle Madison

Chasidy Wederquist

Claude Perkins motioned that Chasidy Wederquist should become the new City Clerk

Moreland seconded the motion, motion carried. Chasidy Wederquist was instated as City Clerk and Treasurer- with the oath of office

February 3rd meeting minutes were ordered and read. The only correction was that the tractor loan did not need to be redone.

Claude motioned that we pay the bills as written, seconded by Brian, motioned carried

Old Business:

The first topic was the city park. Dustin Moreland stated that he and Jared Wilson were planning on going to the park to look at the trees and equipment when it warms up to see what needs to be done.

The second topic was the lift station report. This topic is still up for discussion

The third topic that was discussed was the well. The work as been finished and there was a total of 178 gallons of water lost.

New Business:

The first topic discussed was Rhett Goy from Nishna Insurance Agency. He read the yearly insurance summary.

The second topic discussed was Justin Hornberger from Spiral Communication. He came and asked if Spiral Communication could use the city water tower to place their antennae on. He also discussed the plan to install fiber optic cables to the bank. He asked if they could put a utility cabinet by the water tower to power their equipment. He also said that if the City of Randolph was willing to pay the cost of power that they would include internet service for the fire department, city hall and library free of charge.

Al made the motion to go on with Spiral Communications, Dustin second the motion, all in favor, the motion for the wifi was approved

The third topic discussed was redoing the well. Gary said that we should wait a few more months to recoup some of the money lost.

The fourth topic discussed were the lights on the Veteran Memorial. Ideas were discussed on how to keep the lights from getting vandalized. Brian Hardy was asked to look into the cost of doing the lights.

Next topic to discuss was the possibility of utilizing a TIF program. There was a discussion and a special meeting has been called for March 11, 2014.

There were no other items discussed. Brian Hardy motioned to adjourn the meeting, Al Marshall seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 8:15pm
